Education to Seek Research Proposals from Small Businesses
by Mildred Holley, Technology Programs Manager

The U.S. Department of Education expects to release two requests for proposals for Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) projects on November 23, 2007. The deadline for proposals will be January 22, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. EST. The DoED will award Phase I contracts to successful applicants at funding amounts up to $100,000 for periods of six months maximum. The second solicitation will be for Fast-Track (combined Phases I and II) projects. The pre-solicitation announcement is available at www.fbo.gov/spg/ED/OCFO/CPO/ED-08-R-0007/SynopsisP.html. We also recommend that the small business community interested in this opportunity review the Department of Education’s SBIR program information at www.ed.gov/programs/sbir/index.html.
