Important Change to NIH Proposal Submissions
by Mildred Holley, Technology Programs Manager

The National Institutes of Health recently announced a change in its standard receipt dates for grant applications. The new receipt dates will be effective beginning January 2007. Submission dates for all NIH grant mechanisms are being spread out because of the high volume of electronic submissions.

This change will affect small business researchers who submit proposals for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and the Small Business Technology Tranfer (STTR) programs. Beginning with the 2007 SBIR and STTR Omnibus Solicitations, application due dates will be April 5, August 5, and December 5. The old dates were April 1, August 1, and December 1.

Again, this change will become effective in January 2007. It does not affect the December 1, 2006 submission deadline or the January 2, 2007 due date for AIDS and AIDS-related research proposals.
