Energy Requests Small Business Research Proposals

The U.S. Department of Energy (DoE) released its FY2007 solicitations for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs on September 20, 2006. The receipt deadline for Arkansas small businesses who submit Phase I proposals in response to this announcement is 8:00 p.m. EST on November 21, 2006. Proposals are limited to 25 pages and must be submitted using the Grants.gov electronic submission system.
The DoE has identified 54 topics across the following 13 program areas. Each topic includes one or more described subtopics:
– Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
– Basic Energy Sciences
– Fossil Energy
– Nuclear Energy, Science and Technology
– Nuclear Physics
– High Energy Physics
– Science
– Advanced Scientific Computing Research
– Scientific and Technical Information
– Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation
– Electricity Delivery and Energy Reliability
– Biological and Environmental Research
– Fusion Energy Sciences
The DoE estimates it will award about 360 fixed price research grants of up to $100,000 and as much as 9 months as a result of this competition. The agency anticipates award selection will occur in April 2007, with Phase I projects to begin by late June 2007.
