2005 American Community Survey of Arkansas Released

The U.S. Census Bureau recently released the results of the 2005 American Community Survey. The profile of Arkansas contains some interesting facts:

- The 2005 household population is estimated to be 2,701,431.

- There were 1.1 million households in Arkansas. The average household size was 2.48 people.

- 81 percent of people 25 years and over had at least graduated from high school and 19 percent had a bachelor’s degree or higher.

- The foreign-born population of Arkansas was 101,169 in 2005. Of the foreign born, 23 percent were U.S. citizens and 77 percent were noncitizens of the U.S.

- The median household income was $34,999. The US average is $46,242. Arkansas ranked 49th in household income.
