NIST Invites Small Businesses to Submit Proposals

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) released its FY 2006 SBIR Program Solicitation on November 3, 2005. Proposals in paper form must be received no later than 3.00 PM EST, January 26, 2006.

NIST estimates it will make 14 Phase I awards of up to $75,000 each. Awards are expected to be made in mid-July 2006 to fund projects of up to 6 months.
Topic areas for entrepreneurs with research capabilities are:
-- Advanced Biological and Chemical Sensing Technologies (1 subtopic),
-- Analytical Methods (1 subtopics),
-- Homeland Security (4 subtopics),
-- Information Technology (2 subtopics),
-- Intelligent Control (2 subtopics),
-- Manufacturing System Integration (1 subtopic),
-- Microelectronics Manufacturing (1 subtopic),
-- Microwave Technology (1 subtopic),
-- Nanofabrication (1 subtopic),
-- Optics and Optical Technology (5 subtopics),
-- X-ray System Technologies (1 subtopic)
