Technology Timesaver
by Kathryn Peacock, Center Director, UAM College of Technology - McGehee SBDC

As the cliché goes, time is money--in any business, but especially so if you have gone SOHO (Small Office/Home Office). So how do you find the technology that saves you both minutes and moola without going from store to store? CNET is an online business buying guide that provides honest reviews and practical comparisons for a range of technology products—even refurbished ones.

Categories include computers, servers, storage, handhelds, cell phones, monitors, printers, networking, wireless, security, productivity software, and access and hosting services. Product reviews from the editors tell “the good”, “the bad”, and the “bottom line” features, and you also get “tell it like it is” reviews from actual users of the products.

The site’s Newsburst feature allows you to filter for news of interest to you. You can specify a keyword such as “virus”, a topic such as “security”, or a company—EBay, for example.
