Fourth Annual Emhart Design Contest
by Douglas Mathew, Graduate Assistant, UALR SBDC

For the fourth year, Arkansas entrepreneurs have the opportunity to compete in the "Create the Future" Contest. The contest invites entries of innovative ideas in any of four design categories. The four categories are everyday products, medical, safety or transportation. Entrants are asked to provide a brief description of the design idea, including its novelty, application and potential benefits. Entries must be received no later than November 18, 2005; winners are projected to be announced in March 2006.

The 2004 Grand Prize Winner was Leonard Duffy, Chittenden Research and Development LLC, VT. His design idea for a Unitary Orthopedic Appliance (as well as the ideas of other 2004 prize winners) is described on the contest web site.

The contest is sponsored by Emhart Technologies Inc., ABP International and NASA Tech Briefs magazine. Visit www.emhartcontest.com for a PDF version of the official entry form and other details.
