Arkansas Ranked 16th in Small Business Survival Index 2005
by Timothy Lee, Associate Extension Specialist, UALR Lead Center

Arkansas ranked 16th in the recently released Small Business Survival Index 2005 by the Small Business & Entrepreneurship Council. While just behind 15th place Tennessee and the more populous states of Colorado, Florida, and Texas, Arkansas outdistanced California and New York.

The index uses income taxes, personal property taxes, unemployment rates, cost of gasoline, crime, and several other economic factors in developing an index score.
