Need Funding for Research and Development?
by Amy Burns, Training Coordinator, UALR Lead Center

Have a research and development project but not enough or no funding? Business owners, potential entrepreneurs, researchers and other professionals are invited to attend the Funding New Technology Development 101 seminar on Thursday, October 27, from 8:30 am - noon at the Searcy Area Chamber of Commerce located at 2323 South Main Street in Searcy, Arkansas.

Cost to attend the seminar is $40. The seminar is co-sponsored by the UALR Arkansas Small Business Development Center and the Searcy Area Chamber of Commerce. Breakfast will be provided.

In this seminar, participants will learn how the $2 billion Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs might finance their ideas, concepts and high-risk research projects for eventual commercialization.

Speaker Mildred Holley, ASBDC Technology Programs Manager, will cover topics such as which federal agencies fund research and development, how to match your projects with the federal agencies' research and development areas of interest, who can apply, how much money is available and what local resources exist to help applicants compete for funds.

This seminar is ideal for business owners, potential entrepreneurs, university researchers, economic developers, accountants, attorneys and business consultants.

To register call (501) 324-9043 or, outside of Pulaski County (800) 862-2040, or on the web at asbdc.ualr.edu. To inquire further about the seminar content, contact Mildred Holley at (501) 324-9043.
