How to Get a Copy or Transcript of Your IRS Tax Return

Copies or transcripts of filed and processed tax returns can help individuals begin to reconstruct tax records destroyed by Hurricane Katrina or Hurricane Rita.

The IRS will waive the usual fees and expedite requests for copies of tax returns for people who need them to apply for benefits or to file amended returns claiming disaster-related losses.
