Third Annual Emhart Design Contest
by Mildred Holley, Technology Programs Manager

For the third year, the "Create the Future" Contest invites entries of innovative ideas in any of four design categories. The four categories are everyday products, medical, safety or transportation. Entrants are asked to provide a brief description of the design idea, including its novelty, application and potential benefits. Entries must be received no later than November 19, 2004; winners are projected to be announced in March 2005.

The 2003 Grand Prize Winner was Dr. Michael Liebschner of Rice University. His design idea for a noninvasive bone and joint damage detection device (as well as the ideas of other 2003 prize winners) is described on the contest web site.

The contest is sponsored by Emhart Teknologies Inc., ABP International and NASA Tech Briefs magazine. Visit http://www.emhartcontest.com for a pdf version of the official entry form and other details.
