RDM Cabinets, Inc.
Robert Heard, Founder
Trumann, Arkansas

In September 2007, RDM Cabinets, Inc. announced plans to add 60 full-time jobs with their expansion into a 40,000 square-foot facility in the Trumann Industrial Park. For founder Robert Heard, what started nearly twenty years ago as a hobby building cabinets in a spare room of his home has grown into a multi-million dollar family business employing 20 full-time employees. With help from wife Donna and son Shawn Sullivan, the manufacturing business has found a niche market of contractors and discount building supply stores that have a need for unfinished factory cabinet lines.

The Heards were referred to the Arkansas State University SBDC by the Bank of Trumann and Arkansas Capital Corporation. The lenders were interested in providing the financing to enable the business to expand, but needed a SBA loan guaranty to do so. Laura Miller, Business Consultant, worked closely with Sullivan to prepare the loan proposal that was approved by the lenders and the SBA. RDM Cabinets received $561,000 to expand the business. Sullivan acknowledges that "RDM cabinets wouldn't be in the position we are in without the help of ASBDC. Our success is a direct result of the support of Laura Miller and our local office."
